Meet Our Principal, Mr. Brian Lieberman
I am thrilled to be the Principal at Sanford Elementary! My goal is to ensure the success of each child so that they maximize their potential to be successful in the 21st century. Sanford students will know how to read, write, do mathematics, and think in order to be college, career, and citizen ready. Students will be exposed to technology through instructional practices and through their own independent practice using technology.
I make it my personal mission to make sure each student feels safe, secure, and welcome in the building. Every child has strengths, and it is our job as educators to build upon those strengths and provide an environment to foster continuous growth in children. Sanford students are part of a caring community of learners. The staff at Sanford spends a great deal of time building classroom and school wide community so that students interact with each other respectfully.
I consider myself a lifelong learner. I am constantly looking to grow personally and professionally. I believe that we are best able to educate each child when we work in partnership with families. Family members are the strongest advocates for their child, and I encourage all of the families of the Sanford community to be active participants in your child's educational experiences. You will find me each morning outside the doors of Sanford greeting students, and you are more than welcome to visit me in the Sanford office at any time.
I am a Virginia Tech graduate, and I live in Newport News with my wife and three children.
